ZRevive
H1Z1: King of the Kill · Preseason 5

The king
is back.

ZRevive brings back King of the Kill with Preseason 5 gameplay on community-run servers. Free for anyone who owns Z1 Battle Royale on Steam.

The launcher builds ZRevive from your own Z1 Battle Royale install. You keep the Steam copy untouched.

The plan

Built with the players, not frozen in 2017.

Preseason 5 is where we start because it's the version most of us remember best. It's a starting point, not a museum piece.

01

New seasons

After launch come real ZRevive seasons with their own rewards, loot tables and map changes, instead of replaying old ones forever.

02

You decide what changes

Balance, weapons, modes and map changes go to the community first. Proposals are posted in the open, players vote, and what wins gets built.

03

Changes in the open

Every change lands in the server log with what changed and why. If something made the game worse, it gets rolled back.

Is it safe?

Nothing here is asking for your trust blind.

Fair question to ask about any community server. Here is the whole answer, and every part of it is something you can check yourself rather than take our word for.

The code is public

Every line of ZRevive — the launcher, the login server and the game server — is on GitHub. Read it, build it yourself, or hand it to someone who will.

github.com/ZRevive/ZRevive

Your Steam copy is never modified

The launcher builds a separate ZRevive folder from the files you already own. Your Z1 Battle Royale install is read and left exactly as it was, so Steam, your library and your other servers are untouched.

There is nothing to pay and nothing to phish

No payments, no donations, no keys for sale, no password to invent. You sign in with Steam's own login, which never shows us your password, and nobody ever needs your Steam credentials, your API key or your trade link.

We don't host game files

No Daybreak art, models, sounds or binaries are distributed by us. That is why the Steam ownership check exists: the only copy of the game involved is the one already in your library.

Downloads come from one place

The only real launcher is the one behind the Download button here, served from the project's own GitHub releases. A ZRevive build from anywhere else is not ours.

All releases and changelogs

Windows will warn you, and it's right to

The launcher isn't code-signed — a certificate costs money this project doesn't take in — so SmartScreen shows an “unrecognised app” notice. That warning means unsigned, not unsafe. If you'd rather not click through it, build the launcher from source instead.

FAQ

Is ZRevive free?

Yes. Accounts, keys and playing are free. Anyone selling ZRevive keys is scamming you.

Is the launcher safe? Someone told me it's malware.

Our code is public, so this is checkable rather than arguable: the launcher, the login server and the game server are all on GitHub, and you can build the launcher yourself instead of downloading ours. It reads your Z1 Battle Royale install and writes a separate ZRevive folder — your Steam copy is never modified. There is no payment of any kind anywhere on ZRevive, so there is nothing for anyone to phish. Windows will warn you that the launcher is from an unrecognised publisher, because it isn't code-signed; that warning means unsigned, not unsafe. Download it only from the button on this page. See Is it safe? for the rest.

Which version of H1Z1 is this?

The game runs on the 2019 Z1 Battle Royale client (build 1.0.326). We're tuning weapons, recoil and movement to play like King of the Kill Preseason 5. Those values live on our server, so they can be adjusted without a game update.

Can I trade skins?

Yes. On the Trade page you can offer skins and Crowns to another player. What you offer is held until they accept or decline, or the offer runs out after 3 days, so nothing can be spent twice.

Why do I need Z1 Battle Royale on Steam?

Only players who own the game on Steam get an account. It keeps throwaway accounts out and makes bans stick.

Why do my game details have to be public?

Steam only shows a library to outside sites when game details are public. Switch them back to private right after you've signed in; we don't need to check again.

What are Crowns?

Crowns are ZRevive's in-game currency, and the only way to get them is to play. Every match pays Crowns, with more for kills and a high placement. Spend them on real King of the Kill skin crates in the store or on the season battle pass. Crowns can't be bought: no real money is involved anywhere.

When can I play?

You can sign in, get your key and get into the in-game main menu today. Matches are being built now. The first test matches will be announced in the server log.

Is this run by Daybreak?

No. ZRevive is an independent fan project with no connection to Daybreak Game Company.

Server log

Into the main menu

The ZRevive game server now takes you from the launcher through character select into the King of the Kill main menu. Next up: the solo queue and the first matches.

Trading and promo codes

Trade skins and Crowns with other players on the new Trade page. Redeem promo codes in the store: ZREVIVE gives 5,000 Crowns, once per account. Staff can now give and remove items too.

The 2019 client, with Preseason 5 gameplay

We first looked at the August 2017 client. ZRevive now runs on the 2019 Z1 Battle Royale client, on a game server we're writing ourselves, with weapons, recoil and movement tuned to Preseason 5. Existing accounts and keys carry over.

Accounts and launcher are live

Steam sign-in with the ownership check, auth keys, the ZRevive launcher and the Discord status bot are up.
